VILLAR RECEIVES HONORIS CAUSA FROM SULTAN KUDARAT
POLYTECHNIC STATE COLLEGE
Will be guest speaker in SUCs in Tacurong and North Cotabato

Senator Manny Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party, will be conferred with Honoris Causa in Doctor of Philosophy in Institutional Development and Management by Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic State College in Tacurong City tomorrow (April 4) during their 15th Commencement Exercises where Villar will also be the guest speaker.

"I consider it a great honor and privilege to receive an honoris causa from Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic State College. I thank the deans, directors and faculty members of the college for deeming me worthy to receive the honorary degree," says Villar.

The honoris causa from the Mindanao-based SUC will add to Villar's roster of honorary degrees from various universities and colleges nationwide in recognition of his exemplary performance in public service as well as in the business sector.

Last school year, Villar received honoris causa from three state universities and two colleges. These are from the following: Bataan Polytechnic State College, Doctor of Humanities; Laguna State Polytechnic College, Doctor of Humanities-Entrepreneurship; Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Doctor of Business Administration; Pangasinan State University, Doctor of Development Management; Ramon Magsaysay Technological University, Doctor of Entrepreneurial Management; Tarlac State University, Doctor of Public Administration and Western Visayas College, Doctor of Technology in Entrepreneurial Management.

Villar is among the well-sought guest speakers in commencement exercises or graduation ceremonies of universities and colleges all over the country because of his background in both politics and business that inspires the youth. He will also be the guest speaker at the commencement exercises of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan, North Cotabato.

According to Villar, "If and when my schedule would allow so, I really make it a point to accept the invitations of schools. I enjoy speaking before the youth, especially before graduating students, because their idealism is so refreshing and inspiring. I also try to inspire them with my humble success story."

Among the staple component of Villar's commencement speeches is the value of entrepreneurship, of which he is an outspoken proponent. Villar espouses the principles of sipag at tiyaga (hardwork and persistence).

"I urge the new graduates or the Filipino youth to enhance their entrepreneurial skills by venturing into small businesses instead of being unemployed or underemployed. If you cannot be an employee, then strive to become an employer. Our country needs more job providers rather than jobseekers," adds Villar.
