Recto on PhilHealth fund for Covid-19 testing: Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto asks Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) officials to explain why the agency only spent around P400 million on Covid-19 testing. Recto said he received reports that people cannot get tested because they don’t have the money to pay for the test. “As far as I know, the government should pay for this, in which case, it’s the PhilHealth. There must be a policy by the board led by the chairman of the Department of Health to increase the budget for testing. We cannot defeat the virus if we don’t test,” Recto said during the hybrid inquiry of the Committee of the Whole Tuesday, August 11, 2020 on alleged irregularities at the PhilHealth.
