Villar reviews implementation of SIDA: Sen. Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, leads the Senate inquiry into the implementation of Republic Act 10659 or the Sugar Cane Industry Development Act. Villar has raised alarm over the reduction of the SIDA budget from P2 billion in 2016 to P500 million in 2019 due to the Sugar Regulatory Administration's (SRA) failure to implement the law. The lady senator has asked SRA Administrator Hermenegildo Serafica to put in place reforms that will make sure sugar farmers will benefit from the programs under the law.
