Hontiveros celebrates International Women's Day with Bulacan women: Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros on Friday joined hundreds of women in Baliwag, Bulacan for “Hakbang Para sa Kababaihan,” an event organized by the Baliwag Local Council of Women, and the Local Government of Baliwag to celebrate the International Women’s Day. Hontiveros, during her speech, highlighted the importance of newly-passed laws for women such as the Expanded Maternity Leave Law, Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act, and the Mandatory PhilHealth Coverage for Persons with Disabilities. As Chair of the Senate Committee on Women, Hontiveros said that she is hoping that the Safe Streets and Public Spaces bill will be signed into law because it aims to end all forms of sexual harassment against women in public spaces, schools and workplaces.
