Villar cites quality seed: Recognizing the importance of ensuring seed quality especially in the rice sector, Senator Cynthia A. Villar says she continually urges rice farmers to use quality seeds to increase their income and become more competitive in the local, regional and international markets. In her speech before the 25th Asian Seed Congress 2018 held at the Marriot Hotel Manila, Villar also underscores the need to use high-quality seeds as it can contribute a 5-10 percent increase in yield or production. The senator, chair of the Senate Agriculture and Food committee, also thanked the Philippine Industry Seed Association and the Asia & Pacific Seed Association for inviting her to the event, which she recognizes as an “important platform” to promote agricultural production and business growth.
