Historic win for working mothers: Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros, author and principal sponsor of the historic Expanded Maternity Leave Law passed in the Senate, on Wednesday signed the bicameral conference committee report of the measure that provides 105 to 120 days of maternity leave for all working mothers. The bill is in compliance with the International Labor Organization (ILO) standards. The last time that the number of paid maternity leave was increased in the country was in 1992 or 26 years ago. The proposed measure is scheduled for ratification by Congress.
