Bonn, Germany: Senator Loren Legarda urged the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety’s (BMU) International Climate Initiative (IKI) to focus more on local climate action in their work with developing countries.

“We would appreciate greater IKI support for our local communities as we also work on having all LGUs craft their local climate change action plans (LCCAP). And while we strengthen local resilience, we continue to remind and urge industrialized nations to walk their talk, operationalizing it by veering away from fossil fuels such as coal and proving to other nations that resilience is the way forward,” said Legarda at the 10th anniversary conference of IKI in Bonn, Germany.
