World Trade Organization (WTO): Senator Loren Legarda meets with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director General Roberto Azevedo on March 27, 2018 at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland to submit a notification on the Philippines’ ratification of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with European Free Trade Association (EFTA) States. As Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Legarda sponsored and successfully sought the Senate’s concurrence in the President’s ratification of the treaty, which covers trade in goods, trade in services, investment, competition, the protection of intellectual property rights, government procurement, and trade and sustainable development between the Philippines and EFTA States—the Republic of Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Kingdom of Norway, and the Swiss Confederation.
