Speaking during the National Council of Women in the Philippines ASEAN+ 2 Women’s Leaders Assembly in observance of the Women’s Month, Villar notes that since the 16th Congress of the Philippine Senate and until the present 17th Congress, we have the most number of lady senators, six out of 24.She also emphasizes that over the years, the concept of women empowerment in the country has also evolved, covering economic empowerment. As a lawmaker, Villar says she has been promoting the welfare and interests of women.
