Villar hears experts on the role of NFA in a tariffied regime: Sen. Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, discusses with Dr. Roehlano Briones, Senior Research Fellow of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, the possible functions of the National Food Authority (NFA) after the lifting of the quantitative restriction on rice imports. Briones said the NFA can still maintain rice stock for contingencies. Villar said she will look into the practice of the Sugar Regulatory Authority (SRA) where farmers are under agreement with SRA to sell stocks when the need arises.
