SENATE HONORS KATALA CONSERVATIONIST INDIRA LACERNA-WIDMANN: Senator Juan Miguel F. Zubiri enjoins the Senate to recognize the honor brought by Indira Lacerna-Widmann when she was awarded by Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, the 2017 Whitley Award of the Whitley Fund for Nature in ceremonies at the Royal Geographic Society in London. Indira was the leading advocate for the conservation of the Philippine cockatoo or the Katala in Rasa island, Palawan. Indira has a Master of Science in Environmental Studies degree from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños and Diploma degree in Conservation Education from the Durell Institute of Conservation and Ecology in the University of Kent Canterbury in the United Kingdom.
