DEFENDING THE PASSPORT BILL: Sen. Cynthia Villar in her capacity as vice chair of the Committee on Foreign Relations, answers queries from Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon on Senate Bill 1365 or the bill extending the validity of passports from five to ten years. Villar pointed out that the extension will not result in lost revenue considering the 30% annual growth in passport issuances from year 2010 to 2016. In her co-sponsorship speech, Villar said the proposal seeks to amend Republic Act 8239 or the Philippine Passport Act of 1996 to make travel abroad easier for the overseas Filipino workers and the travelling public.
