LOCAL GOVERNMENT HEARING: There are more than 42,000 barangays across the country, which means there are an estimated 294,000 barangay officials today. They do crucial work, but do not always receive proper benefits or adequate social protection.

As Chairman of the Committee on Local Government, Sen. Sonny Angara recently spearheaded a hearing tackling several bills increasing the social benefits given to barangay officials. Senator Sonny wants to ensure that enough funds are allocated, as soon as these bills are enacted into law. When this happens, the impact on the lives of those who serve our basic community unit will positively change.
