TRES MARIAS BILL: Senator Risa Hontiveros, chair of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, filed three bills, known as the “Tres Marias bill,” which seek to strengthen the existing Anti-Rape Law, and criminalize gender-based electronic violence and peer-to-peer sexual harassment. Hontiveros expressed alarm over the growing number of sexual harassment cases against women both offline and online. The lady Senator was joined by women’s rights advocates Sylvia Claudio of the University of the Philippines women’s gender studies (left) and Anna Nicole de Castro (right) who experienced online shaming after protesting the Marcos burial last November 18, 2016.
