AMENDING THE TAX SYSTEM: Senator Sonny Angara, chairperson of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, discusses a proposal to update and amend the country’s tax system. “At present, the Philippines have the second highest individual income tax rate at 32 percent, next to Thailand and Vietnam’s 35 percent. In order for the Philippines to be more competitive, attract human capital and prevent the migration of our own, it is imperative that we maintain the progressivity of our tax system,” Angara said. Also in photo are Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and Senate Minority Leader Ralph Recto. (PRIB Photo by Cesar Tomambo/25 October 2016)
