INCREASING THE PENSION OF SSS MEMBERS: Senator Richard Gordon, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Government Corporation and Public Enterprises, discusses proposals amending Republic Act 8282, or the Social Security Service System (SSS), to make it more responsive to the needs of SSS members. The measure seeks to give SSS members a P2,000 increase in monthly pension. “In keeping with the Constitutional mandate to upgrade the pensions and other benefits due to retirees of both the government and the private sectors, it is imperative to review employment benefits and increase the existing amount of pensions,” Gordon said.
