SENATOR LEGARDA AS UNISDR GLOBAL CHAMPION: The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has appointed Senator Loren Legarda as its Global Champion for Resilience. Ms. Margareta Wahlstrom (right), Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Disaster Risk Reduction and UNISDR head, announced the appointment on 30 November 2015 during the Climate Vulnerable Forum High Level Meeting at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference or COP 21. The certificate of appointment was received by Ambassador Ma. Theresa Lazaro (center), Philippine Ambassador to France, and Secretary Manny de Guzman (left), Climate Change Commission Vice Chairperson, on behalf of Legarda, who was unable to travel to Paris because of her duties as Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, which is working to finish the 2016 National Budget.
