LGU'S IRA SHOULD ALWAYS BE RELEASED ON TIME - MARCOS: Tacloban City Councilor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez, together with the rest of the Tacloban Barangay Captains who went to the Senate for their Lakbay-Aral Activity, expressed joy and gratitude to the Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Government Senator Bongbong Marcos for recommending to the Department of Budget and Management to immediately release and not impound as is being practiced, the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) shares of the Local Government Units. As former Ilocos Norte Governor, Marcos had first hand experience relative to the challenges local government officials faced particularly in areas heavily dependent on the IRA share and other national government subsidies.
