NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY: Senator Loren Legarda, chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Communities asks resource persons their opinion on declaring August 9 of every year as National Indigenous Peoples Day. Legarda said that the Senate was keen on passing laws that would protect the rights of indigenous peoples. Among them is the creation and establishment of centers for indigenous cultural communities/indigenous peoples to enhance and ensure delivery of essential services.
